I used the tree die from PTI and stamped it with various stamps from "Love Lives Here: Holiday" from PTI, and "Vintage Christmas" from CTMH. All of the papers I used are from Club Scraps "Memoirs" kit. The doily die cut is from MFT, and I stamped it with "Text It" from Waltzingmouse Stamps. I cut the little wings with the PTI die for Love Lives Here: Christmas.
Notice the brick background, I'm very excited about that, I made it with a stencil I recently purchased from Crafter's Workshop. It's a Julie Balzer stencil. I just recently discovered Julie's blog, and I think her work is fabulous! I'd like to try my hand at Art Journaling, and Julie is quite inspiring!
I used some clear stickers to write the sentiment "from our home to yours". I think I literally have thousands of alphabet stickers just sitting in my stash and I'm trying to make a point of using some of them up!!
MUSINGS:
I'm finding that my "style", whatever that may be, continues to change and evolve. In some ways that's exciting, and in other ways frustrating. I see so many artists who have a distinct style, so much so that when you see their work you immediately know who made the card! Part of me would love to be in that category, and maybe some day I will be, but until then I suppose I'm on a "journey" to find out who I am, artistically speaking. As long as that journey is FUN, I'm OK with it ;) How about you? Do you find that your art doesn't fit into one specific "category", and are you OK with that? I'd love to hear what you think.

Beautiful card, Diane!! I LOVE all of the different stamps and dies you incorporated and that stenciled background is AWESOME!!! And I think the wings definitely add the perfect touch of whimsy to your gorgeous tree!!!
ReplyDeleteЗамечательная открытка! У Вас свой стиль и он мне очень нравится!)
ReplyDeletelove the garland made out of that little stamp!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I LOVE that background! Beautiful Christmas card--there are so many great details! I'm like you that I think I'm still on my style journey, or as I'd like to think, I'm avoiding pinning myself to a style ;)
ReplyDeleteI evolve with my cards too, more or less, I agree, it is a journey. Your card is beautiful. We always top our tree with an angel, so this reminded me of it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Diane! I love the tree w/ wings, the inking and the background you created with the stencil! My style also jumps around a lot - I think I get bored or inspired to try new things - but it does get confusing/frustrating - esp with the supplies/materials.
ReplyDeleteYour card is so cute and totally different with the angel wings! I also love those tiny heart clusters of red on the tree too!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have a certain "style" when it comes to making cards. I create whatever I'm in the mood for, and often it's heavily layered and embellished, and other times it's on the CAS side. I just go with whatever the spirit moves me to create and ignore trendy stuff.
So glad to see you are creating again Diane. This card is beautiful, and I just adore that stenciled fireplace brick. You always create such beautiful cards with so many interesting elements. Glad to see you're back!
ReplyDeleteLovely Diane!
ReplyDeleteYou're so good in so many different fields!
TFS~
I have really enjoyed all of the cards that you have made from the kit that you have. It shows how far you can take a purchase like that. The wings add a lot of whimsy and fun to the card. Love it!
ReplyDeleteMy thought on "style" - I don't have one! I make cards the way I decorate my house....I could have cut glass sitting next to an old tin can if that makes me happy. Maybe someday I'll have a look, but until then I am content with doing it this way. I don't know how to create my own signature style, and I don't want to stop doing this. I have to proceed as I am or give it up in frustration. Your cards are perfect I wouldn't change a thing.
Very sweet Diane!
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say....Hi ya! Glad to see your posts again. I've got to get my blog running again. Been busy with kids and summer. Also planned and gave my daughter a baby shower. Boy was that a huge task. Got to get pictures organized and on the blog. Glad to see ya back.
ReplyDeleteDiane this is so beautiful, wow! I love the wings behind the tree and the background is perfect. Love it.
ReplyDeleteSo Fabulous Miss Diane! I Love the whimsical wings and the Sweet heart clusters decorating your Christmas tree. Love the Wonderful layers as well! Just Fabulous Lady!
ReplyDeleteAs for style.. I don't think I have one just yet.. I rarely have an idea in place before I start a creation.. and even the rare times I do, it rarely turns out quite the same as what I was thinking.. lol.. I guess I just go with where my mood and or Mojo takes me..There seem to be some things that come more naturally to me than others.. And some of those others I am determined to make come more naturally.. lol.. But I think I am still on my own journey of style discovery as well! And I agree with you, as long as it's fun, I'm okay with that. 8-)
Big Hugs to you my friend!
Shannon
Love your card and I love that template!!! I am so into templates lately. I am even making my own. We have a Crafter's Workshop/Clearsnap blog hop going on this weekend and you can win more templates. You can see my blog for details.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what my style is, it keeps changing, but I go with the flow.
i love the brick background and those wings are so cute! beautiful card, Diane! i don't think my style really falls into any specific category, too. i used to think it's bad, but now i think as long as i have fun making them. i really don't care what style they are in. i love what you do and thanks for sharing your thoughts! hope all is well and hope you have a lovely day! =)
ReplyDeleteLove your card! Love the different design elements you created to make this whimsical greeting!
ReplyDeleteMy style is eclectic and usually flows with what mood I am in. All that matters is what makes you happy and no labels needed. I like that one day I can create something CAS and the next create something with layers and lace! :-) To me, it's about putting a smile on someone's face who receives the card no matter the style! I love going with the flow of the mojo!
Beautiful Christmas card Diane! That background looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteLove this card! And yes that includes those darling angel wings! Why not?! The bricked wall stencil is awesome. Looks like it's been watercolored. So dreamy. Love the overstamped stamped MFT die too. Gosh I've missed your fabulous and insightful creations. Apologies for not visiting more. I'll be catching up for sure. A heck of a lot of beauty lives here.
ReplyDeleteGreat card - you really did combine a lot of items in this :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE the brick stencil background! There are so many ways you can use that, Diane! LOVE that PTI tree with wings! Who says a tree can't fly!!! Great whimsical card!
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun Christmas card, Diane! Love it. Have a wonderful Thursday!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet christmas tree. Thanks for your lovely virtual visit to Australia. We'd love to see yu here in person one day.
ReplyDeleteI love that brick background! I am a sucker for anything with red brick. I always wanted to live in a red brick house but sadly, there are none to be found in Bermuda!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about certain people having such a distinct style. Sometimes I wish I was like that - I feel like it would help my cards come together more quickly. But then again it's fun to play and you never know what you'll discover along the way!
Diane this is BEAUTIFUL! HOW did I miss it before I left! LOVE it!!!
ReplyDeleteI am the same I dont think my cards are all one style.. I like it.. I am OK with it.. that is what makes it FUN and ART right! To many people to be inspired by.. I need to soak it all up! :) As long as we are happy with it.. that is all that matters!!
Hope your day is FABULOUS my friend!!
This is really prett Diane!! So many fabulous details! It all came together perfectly!
ReplyDeleteBeeeeeautiful!!! That background really is amazing!! And somehow those wings make me thing of 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas' with all the trees being taken away...;)
ReplyDeleteOh, and Diane, I totally sympathize with you on the style muse - I'm going through the SAME thing! I am ok with my style...at times lol. I just change my mind so much as to what I like, I confuse myself! :)
